Anthias Consulting Ltd are delighted to announce a new date for their Hands-on Complete GC & GC-MS.
The 5-day Hands-on Complete GC & GC-MS course will take place on 4th – 8th July 2022 at The Open University in Milton Keynes.
The training course gives analysts the opportunity to learn all the essential theory then apply this knowledge with hands-on practical exercises in the laboratory. Each of the individual days focuses on each stage of analysis, providing a complete training solution in gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis.
The course provides detailed training covering gases and plumbing, sample introduction, analytical columns, GC detectors, mass-spectrometry, and data analysis. Delegates then go into the laboratory to apply this knowledge to create methods, perform injections and change parameters to see the effects. The course looks at maintenance of the instruments and delegates will gain practical experience in performing maintenance on each GC and MS component, including tuning and ion source cleaning. A day is spent on instrument troubleshooting and the problems that can occur, with real problem solving on the instruments and data analysis software.
The course is approved by the Royal Society of Chemistry for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The course approval is by peer review, with assessment by experts in their field, and underlines the high quality of the training material and delivery.
The course dates follow on from the success of the Anthias Consulting's first face-to-face course since the Covid-19 pandemic, held in Manchester in March. The Anthias team are delighted to be working with The Open University and other partner venues to offer practical-based training courses once again.

The Open University has been formally hosting Anthias' courses for more than ten years and Anthias has held over 175 training courses, welcoming delegates from around the world onto their high-quality analytical training courses.
On the return to hands-on training, Anthias Consulting's Director and Senior Consultant Dr Diane Tuner said: "We're very excited to be returning to the OU to teach our hands-on training courses. We have adapted well to online training over the past couple of years and are delighted we can now also offer in-person training at our partner venues once again. This course is suitable for all levels of knowledge; however for complete beginners it is advisable to attend the 1-day Absolute Basics of GC & GC-MS course first to get a good overview of gas chromatography and GC-MS.
