Multidimensional Chromatography
Multidimensional methods are used to increase the resolution of a chromatographic separation. Coeluting peaks eluting from the first column are resolved on a second column with a different stationary phase. All chromatographic peaks are eluted through both columns (comprehensive two-dimensional chromatography) or the only the selected groups of coeluting peaks are transferred to the second column (heart cutting).
