What will you learn on this course?

This course teaches you the theory of deconvolution, how to use and optimise it to find co-eluting peaks and peaks below the baseline in your GC-MS data, through presentations and demonstrations using deconvolution software by the course instructor.

Learning outcomes

  • You will learn about analytical resolution in mass spectrometry
  • You will learn how deconvolution works and have demonstrations using deconvolution software
  • You will learn the benefits of using deconvolution for processing GC-MS data

Who is this course for?

  • Beginners - those new to Deconvolution.
  • Analysts, Data Analysts or Technicians looking for a refresher in this technique.
  • Lab Managers and Line Managers - those who are responsible for the data or the analysts performing data analysis.
  • Report Writers - technical specialists who aren't performing the data analysis but are using the results.
  • Service Engineers and Consultant Engineers - those who install the software or recommend the use of this technique but don't have the background.
  • Those involved in the Sales or Marketing of the software or the technique for sample data analysis - e.g. manufacturers, contract labs, media companies.

If you need to understand how deconvolution works and how it will benefit your GC-MS data analysis, then come along and learn from this course. This course is for someone who has some knowledge of GC-MS.

Feedback from previous attendees of Virtual Classroom course

"Seeing practical examples of how deconvolution pulled out hits that you otherwise thought wasn't possible. Seeing what the different parameters are and how they can help in the deconvolution process."  February 2022.

"Diane is an excellent teacher. She explained everything very well and took time to answer all our questions."
How does it compare to other analytical training you have had?
"Better balance of theory, application and practical demonstration."

Feedback from previous attendees of Face-to-Face course

"The topic was well explained. There was a lot of information that was new to me and the team but Diane managed to keep us all focused. We found it all useful. We all feel that we now have a much better understanding of both NIST and AMDIS ."  Delegate from flavour and fragrance industry, attended bespoke Basics of Deconvolution (NIST AMDIS) training, October 2016.
