Anthias Consulting celebrates the 5th anniversary of its highly successful 5-day Complete GC and GC-MS course

Anthias Consulting is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its successful 5-day Complete GC and GC-MS course which has received outstanding reviews from its participants since September 2007. The manufacturer-independent course provides a complete training solution enabling you to understand your Gas Chromatograph or GC-MS instrument, develop applications, troubleshoot & maintain it.

Over the past 5 years, over 100 participants have been successfully trained by us. In 2012, the course received an overall rating of 4.8 / 5, with an average of 4.7 / 5 in 4 categories of quality of material, knowledge of the presenter, value for money and location/facilities. The knowledge of the presenters received the highest reviews of 4.9 / 5. This has been represented by the graph below:

What does the course cover?

The first 3 days of the course covers all the practical theory you need to know about gas chromatography and mass spectrometry including: gases and plumbing, sample introduction such as split, splitless, on-column and large volume injection; analytical GC columns; GC detectors and mass selective detectors; data analysis; and sampling techniques like headspace, SPME, pyrolysis, thermal desorption, purge & trap, liquid-liquid and solid phase extraction.

The next 2 days of the course is about how to choose the GC & GC-MS techniques for an application, how to set-up the instrument, how to develop & optimise methods and then finally how to maintain & troubleshoot the instrument, techniques and method. It also takes a brief look at advanced techniques to help solve complex applications including selective discrimination, deconvolution, two-dimensional GC (GC+GC & GCxGC) and chemometrics.

This course is packed full of examples and practical tips, makes full use of props and includes a questions and answers session at the end of each day making it the course to attend for all of your useful GC knowledge.

Below are some of the recent feedback that we have received for the course:

“The course is useful and the presenters made it more enjoyable. They were really great and warm with the attendants.” Dr. Abuelgasim Elrashee Al lhassan, Consultant Clinical Biochemist, (September 2012).

“The lively enthusiastic presentation style and use of specific examples from the instructors’ experience made the experience easy to follow and helped me understand the relevance of some techniques. As they say in book reviews: it’s a course of breathtaking scope. I was impressed with how much one can learn in only 5 days.” Irina Stefana, MRC National Institute for Medical Research (September 2012).

"All the information was given in a clear and very professional manner and the course will really help me to identify problems I might encounter in the future. All questions were answered and good examples and solutions to problems given. All topics covered were useful and interesting + we had a tour of the lab!" Katiuska Caraballo, Analytical Chemist at South East Water, attended Troubleshooting & Maintenance individual day of Complete course (July 2012).

"I really enjoyed the course coverage and the enthusiasm of the presenters. Honestly, I am really happy I attended the course. Very worthwhile." Delphine Oben, PhD Research Associate at the Open University, attended 5-day Complete course (July 2012).
