An example of GC-MS using a specific design of mass spectrometer known as Time-of-Flight. This type of mass spectrometer is capable of either very high scan speeds, or very high accurate mass measurements, but not both simultaneously. The velocity of the ions depends on the charge-to-mass ratio (heavier particles have slower speeds). This technique produces very good data for deconvolution and is able to be used with GCxGC. It also finds applications with high mass accuracy for molecular formulae deduction.
