A fast sample transfer technique which enables the amount of sample to be adjusted to suit the concentration and column requirements via the splitting of an injected sample after vapourisation. Selection of conditions allows split ratios of between 5:1 and 1000:1 to be achieved. Remainder of the sample is vented through the split exit and trap.
