Anthias Consulting are pleased to announce that the University of Nottingham are to host their upcoming courses for training in gas chromatography and mass spectrometry this Autumn.
The 1-day Absolute Basics of GC & GC-MS on 14th October provides an introduction to Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) for complete beginners.
This is followed by the Complete GC & GC-MS training course on 14th – 18th November. This 5-day course offers a complete training solution enabling delegates to understand their Gas Chromatograph or GC-MS instrument, develop applications, troubleshoot and maintain it. The detailed training covers all the essential and practical theory of gases and plumbing, sample introduction and injection techniques, GC columns, detectors, data analysis and sampling techniques. It also looks at how to choose the techniques for an application, strategies for developing and optimising methods, how to recognise areas requiring maintenance and the logical steps of troubleshooting and takes a brief look at advanced techniques for solving complex applications.
The training is taught by practising analytical chemists with current skills and both courses are approved by the Royal Society of Chemistry for purposes of Continuing Professional Development.
The classroom-based courses cover all the essential theory of the techniques and include instrument parts and consumables to see and handle, to help put the theory into context. There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions, along with demonstrations, tasks and case studies to help reinforce the learning process. Attendees will gain practical insights and tips and tricks which they can apply directly to their analyses.
The courses will take place on the University of Nottingham's Sutton Bonington Campus, approx. 12 miles south of Nottingham with its state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities dedicated to the study of biosciences in the UK.
The university will endeavour to include a lab tour during the 5-day Complete GC & GC-MS course.
The collaboration is part of a regular programme of hosted courses, as part of Anthias Consulting’s course hosting scheme.
