Absolute Basics of Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI)
Pittcon 2023 Short Course
Sunday 19th March 2023 - 8:30am - 5:00pm
What will you learn on this course?
This course provides an introduction for absolute beginners to mass spectrometry imaging (MSI).
The course discusses how mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging works, looking at the instrumentation used, the types of samples which can be analysed and sample preparation.
Beyond the instrumentation, the course discusses why the technique is used, looking at data analysis and the answers the technique can give.
The course reviews different industries and their applications of the techniques, using each as a case study to apply knowledge learned throughout the course.
The course will cover the what, why, where, when and how of MSI:
- What is mass spectrometry imaging?
- Why do we use mass spectrometry imaging? How could it help solve problems and what answers could it give?
- When do we use mass spectrometry imaging? What types of analytes and samples can you use MSI for?
- How does mass spectrometry imaging work? and what instrumentation is available?
- Where do we use mass spectrometry imaging? Which applications to answer what questions?
Who is this course for?
Beginners to Mass Spectrometry Imaging.
